Below are the details of organisations that may assist both buyers and suppliers to better understand the procurement environment. Australian Government purchasing

Procurement policy
The Department of Finance and Deregulation is responsible for procurement policy on behalf of the Australian Government. Information on the Procurement Policy Framework can be found on the Finance website under Procurement Policy and Guidance.

Government advertising
The official web site for advertising of Australian Government business opportunities is AusTender, the Australian Government Electronic Tender System.

Electronic tendering
AusTender is the Australian Government Electronic Tender System that enables suppliers to access Australian Government business opportunities online, download tender documentation and submit responses electronically.   Australian Government agencies under the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997 notify all publicly available business opportunities on AusTender. Selected agencies under the Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997 notify specific opportunities on AusTender. AusTender is managed on behalf of the Australian Government by the Department of Finance and Deregulation.

Reporting of contracts
AusTender is the official web site for Commonwealth gazettal of contracts and standing offers of $10,000 or above. AusTender- Reports provides information about the Australian Government’s procurement activities such as the value of contracts, and the names of the supplier and buyers under those contracts.

SourceIT
On 28 May 2007, the Special Minister of State, the Hon Gary Nairn MP, released through the SourceIT website second versions of SourceIT model contracts and user notes. These were developed in response to comments on the first versions of the SourceIT documents and policy developments concerning supplier liability, ownership of intellectual property and closure of Endorsed Supplier Arrangements.
